They fight an uphill battle to learn them, forcing their bodies to perform un-ergonomic and unproductive actions over and over again, and feel rewarded bit by bit as their ability to express themselves increases, hopefully leading one day to mastery if not virtuosity. “Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of a game” is a classic game design quote and a similar principle is at play here: people don't play instruments because they're convenient. It's a not a technical challenge nor is it super expensive to implement. Even analog synths already had patch memories back in the 80s. If it'll be a flagship, I suspect for many it will be the same story: love the sounds, hate the interface. a standalone synth *and* the Montage is replaced by something else? a standalone synth (but not a flagship) and the Montage stays Having an analog engine in a multi-part do-it-all "performance synthesizer" flagship kinda excludes the hands-on, knob per function interface.
I didn't think of a potential hardware virtual analog as a flagship (formerly "workstation"), but as a standalone synth in the vein of the Nord Lead, Yamaha AN1x and so on. As a current owner of Montage, it's a little disappointing, but I'd appreciate it if they released a synth with a UI more suitable for a VA synth.I'm quite curious to see how things turn out.
No need to negatively impact sales of new AN-X based synth. Now that this logo has been registered, I think the chances of an AN-X being added to cunnrent Montage are pretty low.
